Headshots with Reba
After a dreary winter, it was my pleasure to get back to some outdoor photo sessions. I recently had the pleasure of photographing headshots for Reba. Reba is a talented and dynamic individual who was a joy to work with. We met at a local working share space in downtown Towson, Maryland.
I knew that February would not be the best time of year for outdoor portraits, but I was determined to make the best of it. I wanted to capture Reba's personality and professionalism, and I felt that the working share space would be the perfect backdrop.
I was initially worried that the lack of trees and colors would make the photos look drab, but I was pleasantly surprised with how they turned out. The neutral colors of the working share space actually helped to accentuate Reba's features.
I also took advantage of the beautiful agriculture in downtown Towson. The photos of Reba standing by the pillars of the Baltimore County Government building were my favorite.
I am so happy with how the photos turned out. Reba was a natural in front of the camera, and I was able to capture her essence. I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked with her.
Tips for Photographing Headshots
Here are a few tips for photographing headshots:
Choose the right location. The location of your headshot can make a big difference in the overall look and feel of the photo. I recommend choosing a location that is both flattering to your subject and representative of their personality.
Use off camera flash. Balancing ambient light with off-camera flash is a crucial technique for creating stunning portraits. It allows you to control the light and create a variety of effects.
Keep the background simple. A simple background will help to keep the focus on your subject.
Pay attention to your subject's posing. The way your subject poses can make a big difference in how the photo looks. Be sure to give them some direction and help them to relax in front of the camera.
Take plenty of photos. The more photos you take, the better your chances of getting a great one.
I hope these tips help you to take some stunning headshots!
